The Work Life Map (2:00)

It has been refined over decades of use and reflects the latest thinking on activating bold action through a deep understanding of your values, strengths, and purpose.
You will learn to use the Work Life Map during the Mentor Advisor Certification Program. Download it now so it's ready to go for the program. Please don't begin working on it yet, we have a process we will share on how to facilitate the completion of this tool with your mentee.

EXERCISE: Core Values (10:00)
Core Values are foundational beliefs which motivate and guide your decisions and behaviors. For example, if you value kindness, you are excited by the opportunity to help others; you enjoy it so much you will do it in your spare time. If you value originality and fun, on the other hand, you may feel stifled working in a very serious environment where you are required to follow rigorous processes.
Core Values are deeply connected to finding meaning and fulfillment in your life. They are what you care most about and crave without even consciously thinking about it.
Values are not goals. Goals are where you want to go; values are how you live your life as you work towards your goals. When your values and goals are aligned, you will feel engaged and fulfilled. The opposite is true when your values and goals are misaligned.
If something you're doing just doesn't "feel right", it's worth reviewing your Core Values to see if you are out of alignment. Use the Core Values List and the Core Values Worksheet to uncover your Core Values.
INSTRUCTIONS: Please complete the "Core Values Worksheet" prior to the Mentor Advisor Certification Program. Use the download button below to access the Core Value List and Worksheet. You can either print this form and fill it in, or complete it online and save it to your computer.
EXERCISE: Strength Analyzer (10:00)
Strengths are talents and skills honed to the level of exceptional performance. The more you use your strengths, the more you feel productive and fulfilled. Using strengths is also fundamental to unlocking creativity and innovation.
Leaders who focus on maximizing employee strengths benefit from higher engagement scores, lower turnover, greater customer loyalty, higher productivity, and greater profitability.
A Gallup Study found that the more hours per day people are able to use their strengths, the more likely they are to report that they have ample energy, feel well-rested and happy, laugh a lot, and feel respected and proud.
The Strengths Analyzer is a valuable tool to help you understand the strengths that have shaped your mentees' greatest successes and helped them emerge from their most daunting challenges.

EXERCISE: Trust Inventory (10:00)
Trust is foundational to any relationship, especially a mentoring relationship. It takes months and even years to fully develop, yet is fragile and can be destroyed in a moment. Trust in relationships is about listening and supporting each other, showing mutual respect, having boundaries and handling conflict in healthy ways. Trust is knowing that you are safe to be authentic and vulnerable.
Trust is critical to organizations as well. A recent survey found 23 percent of working-age adults said they would offer more ideas and solutions, and 21 percent reported they would be willing to work longer hours, if they trusted their leaders. One-third indicated that they would stay longer with an employer if its leaders kept their promises, and 28 percent said they would extend their tenure if transparency was practiced at all levels.
The Trust Inventory is a useful self-assessment of the key components of trust. The resulting score is your Trust Quotient.
